How the calculation works

Havlicek formula: Boy = (father + mother + 13) ÷ 2, Girl = (father + mother − 13) ÷ 2, then add/subtract about 5cm for the range. Percentiles use WHO Child Growth Standards 0–60 months.

FAQ

How accurate is the predicted height?

It is a rough genetic estimate. Nutrition, sleep, activity, hormones and puberty can all shift final height by several centimetres. It is not a substitute for medical assessment.

What standard are the percentiles based on?

WHO Child Growth Standards for height-for-age (0–60 months), sex-specific, with LMS parameters used to compute Z-scores and percentiles.

What if my child is below the 3rd percentile?

A single low reading is not always cause for alarm. If it persists, or the child deviates from their own growth curve, ask a pediatrician about bone-age assessment.

Why does this differ from bone-age predictions?

Bone age (X-ray) is more accurate than formulas because it reflects skeletal maturity. Discrepancy between formula and bone-age results is expected.
